Home Sweet Home

Hey guys :)

So the house is really coming on now! We've made some real progress and it's starting to feel like it's our house now. Just before Christmas, after we came back from our holiday/wedding, we decided that with Hubs still being in a lot of pain, that it would better for us to get a decorator in to speed things up.

So we started with the smallest spare bedroom!
Here's how it looked before.

We were lucky to be given spare carpet left over from my parents hallway. There was only enough for this room so we snapped it up and had it fitted.

The next day I decided to paint the walls so we could move into that room for a change of scenery.
We picked a light blue to best cover the beige.

We moved into this room so that we could use the spare room we were in for storage whilst we decorate the master bedroom. This room will eventually be the nursery when we have a baby, but for now we call it hubs' Man Cave. When he can't sleep, it's a great room for him to be able to go to and watch a movie and not wake me up.

Once we were in that room and had the larger spare room for storage space, we had the master bedroom cleared out, pulled the carpet up and cleaned out all the cupboards.

Lets just remind ourselves of what it looked like.

We'd had the outer wall plastered when we moved in due to damp, so there were no skirting boards. We had to have our builder put new ones on, then I painted them, and then the walls.

The carpet went in a few weeks later and suddenly we were seeing progress :)
We moved our furniture in and were almost there.

In a few weeks we have a lovely set of blinds being fitted, and then I have some gorgeous nautical map wallpaper to recover the wardrobe doors with! It's such a cosy room. I've been buying bed sets to make sure we always match!

Being in the master bedroom meant that we could set the small room back up as a spare bedroom (man cave, remember ;)) but we started noticing really bad damp. We had to have two extra drainage pipes installed outside and the entire room re-plastered (including the ceiling) to get rid of the damp. We had the bathroom done at the same time.

We're just waiting for the plaster to dry before we decorate.
Here are some themes we love!

As I mentioned, we also had the bathroom done.
 Again, this was before.
We started with installing a new bathroom suite.

The walls were plastered.

I then undercoated twice.

And then painted the walls in Apple White.

Its quite a bluey white, which will look great when we've ordered the tiles to go with it!

We have a new radiator towel rail to be installed and the shower curtain is going up later
today. That only leaves the fun part....decor!

The living room was almost finished for a long time, but those blasted skirting boards needed attaching. Well, they finally are! The only thing to do now is replace the fireplace and surround.
I'll be sure to update again soon when the extra bits are done!
We're now saving up for a new kitchen but it's a big job - we need to knock the existing
kitchen into the dining room and have EVERYTHING done - floors, walls, tiles,  luckily we have appliances so we won't need them.

Stay tuned!
