i-sk8

It's hobby day today, where we're all asked to share one of our hobbies and talk a little about why we love it. I've chosen to talk about one of my longest standing hobbies...

figure skating

Me and Hannah doing a
double beilman.

How long have you had your hobby?
A little over 10 years. I started skating for fun with my friend
after we both bought ice skates, and it went from there really.

What are the 3 best things about it?
It keeps you fit.
It's fun.
I get paid to do it!

Is it dangerous?
Of course, but only if you abuse it.

What advice do you have for anyone keen to get involved?
Get in touch with your local rink and go for a skate.
You may surprise yourself! It only takes a session a week for a few months to see a drastic improvement in skill and your health, too.
Take the plunge ;)

Home is where the heart is.

Cross-toe spin.
Beilman

Drag
Spiral

Whats great for me is that I started working at the ice rink in 2006, and got paid to do what I love. It's been the BEST way to learn to skate and I've met some fantastic people through it.

Sunday Social: 17th March

Sunday Social
1. What is your favorite thing to do on a rainy day?
It depends whether I'm working or at uni, but if I have the day off, we like
to curl up on the sofa with the boys and watch movies and cook a warm dinner.
Much like today :)
2. What is your favorite thing to do on a summer weekend?
Barbeque! Mexican bean burgers and corn cobs, sun, smoothies and
Jack Johnson on the ipod. Bliss. ;)
3. What is your favorite spring activity?
Spring cleaning! Is that normal? I love finally being able to open the windows and
air out the house. I definitely make the most of it!
4. What is your favorite way to spend a winter day?
We definitely have our fair share of Winter days in Plymouth, I can assure you!
When it's just too cold and horrible to venture outside, we usually pop something in the slow cooker, and I'll usually sit on Pinterest looking for inspiration for whatever I feel like making that day, giving my man time to catch up with some man tv shows ;)
5. What is your favorite season and why?
Summer! My feet HATE shoes, and the sooner I can get into flip flops, the better!
The sun makes people happy and cheerful, and I love going for road trips to places like St. Ives or Wembury, making the most of being able to wear less than the 500 layers that I've been wearing since Christmas!

6. What is the best birthday you ever had?
In 2005, me and my best friend Lucy went to Disneyland for our birthdays - there's only 1 day between them and we're the same age. We had an awesome time!

Have a fab Sunday! Feel free to link to your sunday social!

Sunday Social: 10th March

Sunday Social

Today is WEEK 40 of Sunday Social - I've been so slack
in joining in, in all honesty, I totally forgot! But I'm back and planning to stay up-to-date from now on. Brownie promise! ;)

1. What is one movie you are terrified to watch?
I'm thinking hard here. I love horrors and there isn't much I haven't seen.
I would probably say anything like Paranormal Activity. But not terrified, just that I get really creeped out by ghosty things. I don't even believe in them but there's something about the suspense that makes me get butterflies.

2. What is one TV show you have always wanted to get into but haven't yet?
Having Netflix, I keep finding new tv shows to watch. We just finished Jekyll, and now I'm hoping to get into The Following.

3. What is one daring activity on your bucket list?
I want to go on all the scariest rollercoasters around the world.
Especially ...

4. Would you ever travel alone?
In 2009 I flew to Turkey, back to England and then back to Turkey again all in one week on my own. After that, I was a pro! I flew later that year to Istanbul, Istanbul to Adana, and then home again - changing flights was scary alone because my Turkish wasn't great when it came to travelling but I did it eventually!
I also drove 5 hours from London to Plymouth on my own. Just me and Maroon 5 the whole way. I think I'm pretty comfy with my own thoughts and I'd travel alone again if I had to.

5. What activities do you like to do alone?
Apparently, fly abroad! Haha!
I like to blog alone, because I type really loudly and I can imagine it's not nice to sit next to me when I'm typing a full-on essay. But that's it. I'd rather do things with my man than alone.

Your turn! Feel free to comment the link to your Sunday Social post!

Have a great Sunday!

Happy Mothers Day!

Happy Mothers Day to all the Momma's out there!
I couldn't find a card I liked this year for either my Mum or
my boyfriends Mum, so I decided to browse Pinterest for 'pinspiration'!

Weirdly, I couldn't find ANYTHING that I liked, so I decided to
make photo collages and found Photo Visi through Google.

I made one per Mum, this one is my in-law'.
Aren't the designs cute?! You can customise as much as you like.

So then I was sat thinking this is pretty boring.
I was backing it onto card, to make it stand up, when I thought
this would make a great jigsaw!

My Mum's collage, backed onto a pizza box.

I googled jigsaw stencils, and found one that fitted an A4 sheet.
It was slightly off after printing it out but it didn't matter.
I stuck it to the back as a template to cut out.

I decided to decorate the backs (you can see where they were slightly short on the top and bottom but hey ho), so just wrote a quick message in colour pens.

Cutting them out took a good 45 minutes. The paper kept unsticking and I ended up using no-more-nails instead of pritstick glue.

For the envelopes, I cut flowers using a stencil from google, out of an old La Senza bag, and stuck Fimo buttons that I'd previously made for last Christmas onto them. I had leaves I'd pulled off an old card, and stuck them on too.

I think they're pretty cute, if I do say so myself!
And they cost nothing, just a bit of ink, time, glue and
collage making!

One day....

WHERE?

I've always dreamed of a beach wedding.
Check out these beautiful photos from Lusty Glaze...is that not amazing?!

DRESS?

They say it's the most important part for a girl, what do you think?

 for the bridesmaids?

Isn't that a cute colour scheme?!

SAY CHEESE!

To me, photos are THE single most important part of the wedding day.
They're what makes it last forever!

Theres also the great option of setting up a photo booth.

PIECE OF CAKE!
