Saw it. Pinned it. Did it.

SPD.
Saw it. Pinned it. Did it.

1. Birthday Bunting - Card

A couple of weeks ago, I was browsing through birthday card ideas.
My Mum's birthday was coming up, and I wanted to give her a hand-made card
because I think they mean more when you can see someone put the effort into making it. I came across this, and loved it immediately. I love the bunting as you open it, so decided to make my own.

I didnt have any craft card so stuck two pieces of printing paper together, and stuck the ends of the cotton (bunting) between the two sheets before gluing.
Ingenious, I know ;P

2. Birthday Bunting - Doorway

It was my man's birthday a few months ago, and after seeing this cute idea on Pinterest, I decided to get up early on his birthday and do the same.

I had to make do with the materials I already had, so instead of crape paper,
I cut up and stapled together strips of coloured origami paper,
and then stapled them to the knot of each balloon (be careful, a popping balloon
will wake them up!)

I left the Happy Birthday banner for the front room instead of above the balloons, and once again used origami paper and blue tac.

There are so many other things I want to try...
although I'm worried a lot of them will end in disaster!
Pinterest Fail makes me laugh so much, it's so funny to see
people finally try some of the far fetched ideas being pinned.

Impulse buy!

I probably shouldn't spend so much time browsing Etsy, because I keep
finding more and more things I want to buy. It's a good place to go when I'm trying to put off psych work. (Which is getting less and less now..)

This is what I want, but really shouldn't buy.

Ice skate clock?! Yes please! Perfect for my future study.

Went want a huge mirror for the front room when we move.
This style is gorgeous, beachy, summery and I love the size.
You don't realise how much they open up a home until you have one.

Designed this sticker skin.
Love this keypad cover! My Mac is
4 years old now and a tad grubby.  It needs
something to liven it up for sure.

Want.

Seriously need to get some lollies from The Groovy Baker!!
How cool are these flavours! Might save it for an occasion (wedding,
baby shower, etc) in the future and get some sent over :)

Its never too early to start planning! Haha.
Can this be any cuter?!

Even if I never have a girl, I need these in my life!!

Such a cute phone case. I'm seriously addicted.

Map art. Where we met, holiday, etc.
I made home made ones but they weren't great.
I'd like to do this as a mini project when we move home.

This is soooo cute. If I have a boy when I have kids, I may just have
to find someone with a girl to buy it for!

Hilarious, with my man being ex-Navy, I think he needs these ;)

Looking at canvas art for the walls, and love this. Very
calm and love the colours.

Also, I'm a huge fan of wall art vinyls, especially for kids rooms.
I've already bought one that's still in it's packet for when we move house, but
I am loving these ideas...

I'm slightly obsessed with the mint/turquoise colour schemes too.
Definite future house will have at least one room this colour!

It'll be interesting to read back in 6 months or so, and see what
I did buy and what I managed to do without ;)

All the information for each of these images is on my Pinterest account.

Green Tea Frapuccino

After months of scrolling through endless photos of this green tea frapuccino
on Pinterest and Food Gawker, I decided that if the UK Starbucks wasn't going
to follow suit and sell them, then I'd make my own.
I know they're supposedly cream based, but that makes me gag. You could always swap the skimmed for full fat milk if you're not counting cals.

I always have Starbucks takeaway cups at home that I reuse when I need
to carry a drink with me, and I always think that cold summer drinks
 taste better through a straw.

So I did a bit of googling, and found the main ingredients: ice, green tea, milk and sweetener.
I highly recommend if you're going to make this yourself, get some matcha green tea powder. It's £10 for the size in the photo, but it makes loads and loads of drinks, so it's money well spent. It won't work if you use a teabag or flavoured green tea.
I used skimmed milk, but to thicken it a little, you could use soya or almond milk (adjust the sweetener).
And for the sweetener, I bought Starbucks vanilla syrup. You don't want anything with too strong a flavour to overpower the green tea, and vanilla is perfect for that, without being too sweet either.
Fill the blender with ice. I use about 10-15 cubes. Trust me, 90% of this is just ice.
Mix a half a teaspoon of green tea powder in a cup with a tiny bit of hot water, just enough to turn it into a liquid with no lumps or granules.  Add to the ice. Add 2 table spoons of syrup, and then milk - I added about a shotgalss full. Trust me, the less liquid, the more slushy it'll be, and less lumpy.

And blend!
If you can, give the ice a smash first to make it a little easier to blend, but not too small.
We're not melting it.
Let me know how it goes, and what other ingredients you'd add!

Dear Teenage Me...

I've been browsing Dear Teen Me and was inspired to write my
own letter to myself.

Here's what I would say...

Dear Teen Me,

Chill out for a second and enjoy being young! I know, it's so exciting to grow up, be independent, but believe me, you'll miss it when it all changes.

Your best friend Lucy will still be here for you in years to come. Never take her for granted. Don't let distance come between you. Make the effort.
Make more of an effort with your sister. She will go through phases before she finds herself. Help her. Tell her she's beautiful, through the goth phase, the emo phase....
But when you fall out over the phone call to her boyfriend, don't offer her pizza, unless you want a black eye.

Take photos!!!!!!! Take photos of everything. Save them. Print them. Your diaries are pants, I'm sorry. I don't want to remember what you ate for lunch or which boy you fancied that week. Think about what you'd want to read back 10 years from now. Tell me what you think about life, what you want to do, what your hopes and dreams are... because I have a suspicion that they're going to come true ;)

Big Grandad. Ask him everything. Learn about his life. Make him proud. Tell him how much he means to you. Don't take him for granted. Ever.

You know you like trampolining? Well keep it up. Go to the YMCA. Work hard at it. I promise you, it'll be worth it. Take it seriously. Eat and sleep it. When Andy mentions diving classes, get over your fear of deep water (there's nothing there, promise) and go for it. He ends up coaching an Olympic medalist in Plymouth. Be part of that.

Don't be so eager to give your heart away. You don't 'love' these people, and won't find you soulmate until you've made some bad choices.

That summer romance will turn sour, so give it up before you get hurt.

Don't stop working at the ice rink. Even when you move to another job, keep the rink on the side. You'll need the money when you finally move out.

YOU MOVE OUT! It's hard work, and you barely scrape rent and bills together. But my God, is it worth it.

TRAIN KIP! When Mum finally lets you get a dog, train him. Trust me, 8 years later when he doesn't pee on the floor when he's excited, you'll be thankful.

Punkyfish clothes do NOT look good, sorry.

That skinny, popular girl in high school? She got pregnant and has loads of kids. She's not happy. Don't aspire to be like that.

You're going to go through a phase that makes no sense to you. Just remember, you end up falling in love with an amazing man. Forget all those other douches.

Appreciate Mum. You're both going to need each other. Appreciate Dad. When Grandad dies, Dad needs you. Be there for him. Don't let him have a midlife crisis.

Stop dying your hair ridiculous colours. Let it grow thick and long. Trust me when I say everyone now wishes they'd done that. Including you.

You want to know a secret? You've got a degree. In fact, you've nearly got two degrees. You can, and are, a bright, intelligent person. You have no idea of the things you'll achieve.

You worry too much about the future. Enjoy the present. You WILL find a man. You WILL fall in love. You WILL plan a future together. And you might have to kiss a few frogs before you find your prince, but trust me, it's more than worth it. He's more than worth it.

What seems hard now will end up being the greatest time of your life.

Us x

WInter Style.

This post is taken from a blog entry I made way before Christmas on my private account. It's even colder now, hitting the main Winter chills in January.
If you don't love the Winter, I imagine you'd feel very depressed in this weather.
It's dark in the mornings, dark in the evenings, grey throughout the day...it gives you no motivation to do anything at all. But we push through, because us English are used to the weather. (Although a nice hot summer wouldn't go a miss this year!!!!)

All the images here can be found with their sources on my Pinterest account.

I totally love this outfit. It's pretty much what I wear most days! I like the shirt too, I think I need more shirts. I love riding style boots. I have brown ones from La Redoute, which have lasted 3 years. They're so comfy.

I love this hat and the leg warmers (not with trainers though).
It's sooo hard to find hats for short hair, but this looks so cute.
I can't wait for my hair to grow out and hats to suit me again!

And what a sweet duffle coat? I just bought a gorgeous navy blue one, but this one might have to join the family too...

I'd also like some of these cute headphones! The walk to uni could be so much more enjoyable with Jack Johnson and Maroon 5 singing me along :P
Maybe it's because I adore the Olsen twins and this model looks like them,
but I love this jumper, and her hair is exactly how I want mine to be (grow, you stupid blonde bob!!)

I'm not a huge welly boots person, I have a black and pink polka pair, but I really like these Hunter wellies. Probably wouldn't go for pink, though. Might give someone an epileptic fit.

I. Need. This. Sweater. <3

Here's a little winter fashion update from my Polyvore account. Click the image to check out some of my other collections.

Day 1: Today
12 Midnight on New Years Eve!

Day 2: Something New
 My baby cousin, Sienna Louise!
8 weeks old <3

Day 3: Heart
 My tattoo, of course!
Read all about the story behind it here!

Day 4: The View From Here
NYE sky lanterns. I do love our view.

Day 5: Movement
 I know, I'm 25 and I go rollerskating.
What can I say. It's so much fun!

Day 6: Mine
I love him because he's all mine <3

Day 7: Street
Oludeniz, Turkiye.

Day 8: Something Beginning With 'T'
Obviously, tea! I went to my Grandma's for a cup of tea and
a catch-up as I do at least once a week. Today, she got the posh china
out. I don't like them, they make my pinky stick out.
I do, however, like ginger cake :)

Day 9: Paper
I didn't want to buy my Mum a birthday card, so I made one!
Check out my blog post about making it - I got covered in glue
but it was fun :) and I think it looks pretty cute <3

Day 10: One O'Clock
Just cleaning out my memory box of some of the rubbish that I'd care to forget about, and came across this beauty.

Day 11: Water
From Turkey in 2009.
90% of time spent abroad is spent in the water.

Day 12: Surprise
I opened my post that arrived today to be shocked with this!
I've been accepted onto the Masters degree in Psychology!
All I need now is a 2:1.... eek!

Day 13: Circle

Day 14: Something Yellow
Porridge with banana and cinnamon. <3

Day 15: An Ordinary Moment
The sun rises and sets every day without anyone
stopping and staring in awe. I love it, and
this is just the first of many sunset photos I'm sure
I'll take this spring!

16: Two Things
My man and my furbabies. <3

17: Ready
Breakfast. Most important meal of the day.
So they say.

18: Shadow
Me and my man.

19: Delicious
We're cutting down on caffeine, so we've substituted the earl grey vanilla
for a few new things. Hubs is on the honey and lemon tea, whilst I've
gone for camomile, and puritee at night, which is amazing for reducing bloating!

20: Something you saw
Skates, skates, everywhere. At work.

21: What you do
Ice skate and shout at people who break the rules!
This was taken in 2007, but it's pretty much the same now,
except the walls have been painted, and I have better hair ;)

22: Corner
From Turkey in 2009. Most random spare room ever.
Felt like a prison cell.

23: Electric
Clearing out the house, I found a remote control tarantula my parents got Woody on our first Christmas together. My dog was so scared of it!

24: Stripes

25: Landscape
Our view.

26: Together
I always crack up at this face swapper app.
Its true though. Sometimes, I forget where he ends and I begin :)

27: Sun
Sunset. Its so pretty. We love our view.

28: Through
 Through the lens...

29: Grow
Isnt growing up odd. You still feel the same person,
year by year, yet you change in so many ways.

30: Down
Freud, playing the beanbag game where I throw him backwards
and where he lands, the beanbag caves in and he falls down into the centre of it. He loves it.

31: Yourself
Hi.

Well, thats another month down, and I'm sorry this one was pretty rubbish really. I promise next month to try harder to actually use photos I take on the day!
