Sunday Social 27/04: peeves!

Hey y'all!

Today's questions are about pet peeves and fears!

1. What is your biggest driving pet peeve?
I really hate it when people leave it til the last 100 yds to
decide to overtake you, speed past like a lunatic then push back in inches in front!
Oh, and people that stop on the yellow grids!!!!

2. What is your biggest blogging pet peeve?
Predictive text when I'm using iBlogger....!

3. What is your biggest shopping pet peeve?
People that see what you're looking at and if it's the last one,
they just have to grab it first, whether they want it or not.

4. What is your biggest general pet peeve?
Childish drama. I don't understand girls in their 20s and older that act
like they are still in high school. Saying that, I don't like girls in high school
that (like I once did) like to cause drama.

5. What is your most irrational fear?
Hahaha. Where do I start?
Robots.
Reserviours.
Swing bridges.
Dams.
Wind turbines.

Next week's questions

1. Who do you call when you need to vent?
2. Where do you go when you need alone time?
3. What is your favorite alone time activity?

5. Who do you wish would read your blog that doesn't already? Family? Celeb?

52 Reasons I Love You

By now, you've probably all seen the '52 things I love about/reasons I love you' playing card books on Pinterest. I stumbled upon the idea after a link brought me to this site. They have a fantastic template to use, and a really easy how-to guide.
I've been making a few for my friends for Valentines day gifts for their partners and thought I'd share!
Here is a tutorial based heavily on this tutorial, with my own tweaks!
Enjoy <3

You'll need:
  • 1 Deck of Playing Cards (I used Bicycle series 1800 from eBay, as I wanted the washed out, vintage look)
  • Glue (I used a simple pritt stick)
  • Template for the cards
  • Scissors
  • Hole Punch
  • Binder Rings, ribbon, etc to bind them together

So firstly, download the template (link above) from Instructables. Save As, and add your own text. If you need inspiration, just google search 'reasons I love you'.

The font I used here was from Da Font and was called 'digs my heart'.

So, once you've printed them, cut them all out. Then glue the backs, and stick them to each card. Save a joker for the front card, as you'll need the title page on the front, and one on the back too if you choose to.

Once they're all stuck on, you'll need to hole punch them.
I found a standard hole punch was too wide, so ended up buying this single hole punch.
I used the spare joker and measured 2cm from the short edge, and 1cm from the long edge, to place the holes. Then I used that card as a template for the rest.

I lined up the card I'd punched, and drew on the next cards, then took the template card away, lined up the punch and hit it. It worked perfectly.

 (That says rock...!)

It's a long task, but eventually I was done with the holes. To bind them you could use ribbon, string, anything really. I wanted proper binding rings so I found a pack at Staples for a few £.
 And viola! That simple :)

I'd love to see if you guys try it out, and if you need any advice,
just ask away!

He put a ring on it!

April 14th was our 4 year anniversary.
We never really do much, simply because we always
think it's just another day. We exchange a card and a small gift, but nothing extravagant.
However, this year we both decided to have a slightly bigger budget, after everything that
has happened health-wise in the last few months, it was nice to spoil each other a little :)
There was only one thing I really wanted, a beautiful candle from JewelCandle. They are gorgeous scented candles, with jewellery inside, which can be worth from £10-£250, it's a total surprise.
Other than that, I told W I didn't mind what he got me, and left it to his imagination.
I knew what I wanted to get him - a BBQ for summer. Typical man, that's all he wanted! But I couldn't just leave it at that, so I got a few other things for him that I knew he'd like.

I also got him a card from 'Scout', our puppy :)

He's an ex-submariner with the Royal Navy, so nautical is definitely 'our' theme. I got some gorgeous nautical wrapping and an atlas print gift bag (both from Paperchase) to wrap his gifts. First was a set of his 'n' hers mugs (from Next), following the nautical theme. I also ordered a Name a Star that I had dedicated to him -in hospital he told me I was his North Star; the one thing guiding him home.
I knew right away that I had to buy him a star. And one of his favourite things (c'mon, everyone's favourite thing!) is food, so I went to our local American Candy store (Fizzy Lips) and bought some little bits for him - cheetos, grape and pineapple Fanta, pixie stix and laffy taffy - all his favourites.

Then it was my turn to open pressies! Next to a box of very expensive looking chocolates and an IOU for a gift that would be arriving in a few days, I couldn't help but notice the beautifully huge bunch of 12 red roses sitting in the hallway. I've never been given roses before, and I was gobsmacked at how lovely they were. And there was my favourite thing ever - my JewelCandle! Cinnamon Bun scented, it was lit within seconds!

I was adamant that I wanted to dig the candle out, but Woody made me wait the 5 hours for the wax to burn down, until I'd moaned enough that he got it out for me. He turned around to hand me it so I could suss out whether it was a £10 or £250 beauty, but instead of coming over, he got down on one knee. Well, I started giggling, as girls tend to do. Not in a million years was I expecting it, and I wasn't sure if he was joking or not. He wasn't ;)
Yep, he asked me to marry him!!!!!!

I can't believe I'm....

Although the ring luckily fitted, and was truly stunning, he knew that it wasn't 'the ring',
so after an amazing conversation, we decided to go shopping for our actual rings the next day :)

My JewelCandle ring <3

Being a woman, it only took me 3 hours to pick a ring - I thought that was fairly good!
I had an idea in my head of what I wanted, and I wanted to try on a few rings to see.
I did, and the second I put this one on, my heart skipped a beat.....

He actually called up my parents who are in Gambia for 2 weeks,
and asked my dad's permission for my hand in marriage ;)
Once both our parents knew, we told our sisters, and then our closest friends before
the inevitable (and cringey) 'facebook relationship status update'.
I have been overwhelmed by amazing messages, comments and the amount of 'likes' I've recieved and I read and appreciate every single one. Thank you so much :) <3

 I can't believe it!!!!!

Sunday Social 13/04 Bests!

Hey y'all!

Today's Sunday Social is all about our bests!

1. What was your best birthday?
Wow, that's a hard one! The older you get the less exciting they are.
My favourite ones were when we were kids and our parents would hire out a hall
and all our friends and cousins would come in fancy dress :)

2. What was your best vacation?
Again, I can't pick just one :) Every single holiday
to Turkiye has been amazing. Best place ever :) In fact,
check out my Oludeniz post to see why I love it so much!

3. What is the best date you've ever been on?
This one.
4 years ago today, I'd been texting this guy I knew through mutual friends
and we worked in the same building for the same company (I was front of house, he was
backstage), and we'd both come out of relationships and got texting about what we wanted and long story short, it turned out we wanted the same things in life. So 4 years ago
I was getting ready to go have dinner at his house just around the corner (small world!),
which would end up being our first date. I stayed over because I genuinely realised at about 1am I'd left my key at home, and the rest is history! This date never really ended <3

4. What is the best movie(quality) you've seen?
I can't really pick one, I love so many!
Safe Haven? The 6th Day? The Shining?

5. What is the best TV show ending of all time?
Uhr, I don't really have any TV shows that I can think of that
have ended. Maybe the ending to The Hills? Suddenly seeing that it was
all fake (as if we didn't think that anyway!) and the cast having the last laugh.
I thought that was pretty good.

Yearly tattoo rant!

Most of you guys have stopped by via a Google search that brings up my tattoo as one of the results. Thanks! It's great to have you stopping by!
As those of you who have read A Tattoo Should Choose You will know,
I've had some issues with a tattoo of mine. Specifically, this one....

http://livinginthemoment87.blogspot.co.uk/2013/01/a-tattoo-should-choose-you.html

Now I have no problem with people sharing my tattoo - it's flattering!
What I do have a problem with is people a) pretending it's theirs and b) removing my watermarks.

Every couple weeks, I google image search the various versions of my tattoo photo
I have taken and mostly, Pinterest pops up. I love seeing people's thoughts and their
ideas for having a fingerprint tattoo too.

http://livinginthemoment87.blogspot.co.uk/2013/01/a-tattoo-should-choose-you.html

But what I don't like is this...

Come on now, this isn't yours. And if you've copied my design,
sorry, but you've got me and my boyfriend etched into your skin
for eternity.

And...

And I'll just keep deleting until you find a Pin to adjust your attitude
(or just link the damn picture to my blog, simples!)

And...

Apparently me and Woody have a kid we know nothing about...!
Well done for sticking a nasty effect on my photo to make it 'different' (if this
was what your tattoo actually looked like, I'd ask for a refund...!) so you can
pretend it's yours. Unlucky that I can tell it's MY tattoo and not your 'Mom and Dad's fingerprints'
Let's hope it's not really a part of you forever.

Sorry to be a party pooper, but I get sick of it! Don't remove my watermarks, don't
pretend it yours and don't get shitty when keep reporting the image for copyright infringement!
This tattoo means everything to me, and for you to come along and trash talk, it's not nice.

And to those of you who are lovely, sharing it with my story, asking for advice with your own prints, you guys are the best :)
